SOUNDSEE: SEEING WITH SOUND

Show notes

The slightest of sounds can unlock mysteries on Earth, in Space and can even help us fly! In our first “From know-how to wow” episode, Melena and Geoff talk to a variety of guests on the topic of sound - forensic scientist Rob Maher, who uses sound files to support solving murders; Jim Platzer who flies planes despite his retinal disease, using sound to navigate; and Bosch AI researcher, Dr. Samarjit Das, who shares how sound can be used for predictive maintenance and to check if your body is running well. Sam explains how Bosch Research’s SoundSee technology uses Audio AI – powerful audio signal processing algorithms built with machine learning — to give meaning to the sounds it hears, here on Earth and aboard the International Space Station! The applications for SoundSee are limitless, taking researchers literally to new heights.
